Mustang spins at 2:25, I'm in the blue Z4MC behind him. My gopro died earlier in that session, wish I'd captured it too.

Looking at some of the interior shots, I was thinking, 'He's leaving his shifting hand off the wheel for a long time, even through some corners where I'm not sure I'd do the same...' Otherwise, pretty smooth driving, no panic as the spin happened. No harm, no foul, right?

It would've been neat to have your video too, if your GoPro was cooperating.

I'm kinda slow, I'm like how does he know they call me Stinky? It's an old Lan Party handle. Like I said, I'm slow :)

Yeah, that hand was on the shifter for quite a while.

Hands belong on the wheel not on the shifter?

Ever correct a slide in a mustang?

Ever correct a slide in a mustang with 1 hand?....

Apparently not. :)

That's why you have two hands on the wheel? And why you keep them at 9 and 3? And why you let off the gas when you lose grip? So you can correct the slide????

So you're saying he shouldn't have lifted?

Totally agree on the hands thing.

No, sorry— I was unclear. I was really just incredulous that he wasn't doing any of those things. If I had tried to drive that way any of the times I've been on track with a driving instructor, they would have corrected me immediately. There are reasons why you keep your hands on the wheel as much as possible in the 9 and 3 positions. Primarily for a reliable grip on the wheel, but also so you don't lose track of where center is (so you can correct oversteer if/when it happens). And he didn't lift at all. If he had (and corrected the slide by steering in the opposite direction), the rear tires would have had a chance to grip and he could have easily saved it. It just seemed like he had his hand on the shifter basically the whole time, but he didn't actually do a whole lot of shifting so it didn't make sense for him to do that.

Agreed. Not convinced that he went both feet in when he lost control either. He needs some instruction.

It seemed like he was treating the throttle like an on/off switch. I was surprised that there was less drama the lap before in that corner. I guess maybe he finally overheated the rear tires... a case of too much car, it seems.

I spun three times at that track. Awesome to see another jalop goes to my local track! Can't wait to get back out there.
